The Military’s New Power Grab, Preparing For Civil War?

The Pentagon has gone rogue and unilaterally declared that is has authority over “Civil Disturbances” now without approval from Congress.

On Monday, the Pentagon made a few subtle changes to the rules in the regulations in the U.S.Code titled “Defense Support of Civilian Law Enforcement Agencies”.(Official document)
In doing so,

”  the military has quietly granted itself the ability to police the streets without obtaining prior local or state consent, upending a precedent that has been in place for more than two centuries.”

They claim that in case it is somehow “impossible” to get authoriaztion from the President  that they can act on their own authority.

The most objectionable aspect of the regulatory change is the inclusion of vague language that permits military intervention in the event of “civil disturbances.” According to the rule:

Federal military commanders have the authority, in extraordinary emergency circumstances where prior authorization by the President is impossible and duly constituted local authorities are unable to control the situation, to engage temporarily in activities that are necessary to quell large-scale, unexpected civil disturbances.

Um, yeah. There is a long standing chain of command structure in place that they are conveniently forgetting in cases of the President being incommunicado.

I can see some members of Congress getting their panties in a twist over this

One of the more disturbing aspects of the new procedures that govern military command on the ground in the event of a civil disturbance relates to authority. Not only does it fail to define what circumstances would be so severe that the president’s authorization is “impossible,” it grants full presidential authority to “Federal military commanders.” According to the defense official, a commander is defined as follows: “Somebody who’s in the position of command, has the title commander. And most of the time they are centrally selected by a board, they’ve gone through additional schooling to exercise command authority.”
As it is written, this “commander” has the same power to authorize military force as the president in the event the president is somehow unable to access a telephone. (The rule doesn’t address the statutory chain of authority that already exists in the event a sitting president is unavailable.) In doing so, this commander must exercise judgment in determining what constitutes, “wanton destruction of property,” “adequate protection for Federal property,” “domestic violence,” or “conspiracy that hinders the execution of State or Federal law,” as these are the circumstances that might be considered an “emergency.”

That right there is sure to cause severe heartburn .

I am quoting all this from a very lengthy article my pal sent me a link to in an Email.
This needs to be spread far and wide as it possibly affects every citizen in the country.

This is the  link to the article in the Long Island Press and you need to read the whole thing right now.

By declaring this authority, the US Military has declared its self  autonomous powers outside the normal civilian checks and balances designed into the framework designed just for that purpose.

They are extremely vague about what these triggers and powers really are and this needs to addressed immediately.
If one looks out of the corner of their eye at this, it could be inferred that the Pentagon has just declared that they have power unto themselves that was never intended and has been addressed before in Posse Comitatus.

This should send a chill down the spine of every American.

H/T to SpongeBobcrackwhore for the heads up.

  1. They just made official what they were going to do anyway. Want to bet that Congress rolls over in its back? If they do, they might as well close the lights and go home.

  2. I can see this going so wrong in every way it matters. The next Waco will be acted out by active military troops.

If they use troops on civilians, they need to be resisted and the guilty brought to account. It must be done in a public manner with extreme prejudice. It must be so horrific that no one will ever think of trying again. If one man tries it, you execute his entire family, all of them, every relative living…Just following orders has a price and none of them dies slow.

  3. I went to the site in the link. That is not a government document. So, I went to the govt document, a .gov and then .mil site. Other than spend a week going from reference to reference, I could find no evidence in the hour I spent that the proposal/law/rule is stated as you said. Can someone point me to the evidence in the .mil document where this is stated. I am not doubting, just want to see the evidence for myself so I will be reliable in passing on information to doubters.

I am entirely capable of searching this document and following the exception stated and the numbered documents from place to place. I am capable of research but do not want to spend a week on this. Can someone find and supply me with the exact place in a government, not and edited version that has no number references?

This paper should never been published without the references cited being documented. No one in my field, English, would be listened to without references. Why would I take the word of someone who takes the time to quote without giving me the place where this came from? This is oh, so much more important than any English paper. It is all probably true. But, I cannot show it to people I know and have them take me seriously when all I can say is that a guy on the internet published it.–not talking about you, busted.

  4. They killed Posse Comitatus when they let the 7th Infantry or some such brigade begin training in the USA for US actions in our streets. We are now officially, a corporate fascist military police state.

  5. And, a GREAT catch by your pal and you to share. It’s going up on my FB page. It SHOULD go up on MyFDL by someone, soon. Email it to Suz, she can send it to some folks like Nahant or CTuttle who would gladly post it. Best to you and yers, a fine catch this one is. The Empire gets fuglier n fuglier by the day.

  6. Practical, the absence of what you seek is NOT proof that the Rhode Island Press article is faulty or not true. Nice try. Given the nature and history of this topic of Posse Commitatus and our increasingly corporate fascist military state empire take over of our government top to bottom, I’d tend to go with Rhode Island Press, and handily dismiss your stated concerns and pearl clutching.

So, screw you. Who PAYS you for this malarkey?
